The City of Madisonville recently completed installation on a brand-new playground and splashpad at Houston Park, in downtown, made possible through the generous support of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant funds. The splashpad officially opened on May 18th with a ribbon-cutting and celebration and was dedicated in memory of the late Madisonville Mayor, Alfred McClendon.
The addition of this much needed, modern playground and splashpad enhances the recreational offerings of Houston Park, which also includes a basketball court, a lighted walking trail and two pavilions. We look forward to seeing the joy and laughter that will fill this revitalized space, fostering a sense of community and creating a lasting legacy for generations to come. A special thank you to Monroe County Government, for the awarded grant funds, helping the City’s efforts to revitalize downtown Madisonville!
